I can only echo what all of Neil’s friends have already said. He was a brilliant and highly valued colleague in Hertfordshire and a genuinely lovely person.

I worked with Neil for many years and he was always there for everyone.
He was kind, generous, humorous and humble. We had many conversations about weekends away, days out and many other things.
He was so supportive at work, many a time he was the voice of calm! He would also make suggestions for events and ways to ensure diversity and inclusion in libraries.
He was a colleague, but also a friend and will be sadly missed.
Sending all best wishes to Chris and Neil’s family and friends.
Rest in Peace Neil. Xx

I am so very sorry to hear of Neil’s passing. He gave me my first opportunity in libraries, and I will always be grateful for his kindness, encouragement, and belief in me. Working with him was a privilege - he was not only deeply knowledgeable but also had that unmistakable twinkle in his eye that made even the busiest days brighter. His guidance made a lasting impression on me, and I am very grateful for the time I had to learn from him. My sincere condolences, Alison
